Jwana Mustafa (she/her/hers)

Master student of English linguistics

Iraq

Jwana has been working for years to connect networks of advocates and programs for the disabled locally and bring in international support for persons with disabilities in the Kurdish Territories of Iraq. Recognizing the gaps in services and the dangers of siloing resources, she has been a bridge builder and innovator for education and advocacy for the disabled in her community.

Jwana participated in the coalition activities to standardize the Kurdish Braille code for the blind, and in participating with this committee proposed 10 of the 32 action items adopted to promote universal access for the blind in Kurdistan. As a DSI Ambassador, she has toured the Kurdish territories to educate the general public about the abilities of people with disabilities and promote mentorship programs in the disabled community.

We asked Jwana if she would like to add anything else to his accomplishments, and she shared this link with us: https://www.facebook.com/133439963658698/posts/1340418419627507/?d=n
